THE MAN WHO COULD NOT REMAIN SILENCE

Jury statement

In just 14 minutes, the film unfolds the universal power of courage, fear and, above all, humanity. With subtle direction and powerful storytelling, supported by impressive acting, this work becomes a moving homage to Tomo Buzov. Director Slijepčević holds up a mirror to us from the perspective of a hesitant observer and challenges us to question our own responsibility in moments of injustice: do we raise our voices or remain silent spectators? The film touched us deeply and gave us the courage to speak here today. We would like to express our sympathy for all people who are currently suffering from the horrors of war. We long for peace and hope that justice will find its way and those responsible will be held accountable.

MIA SAN MIA

Jury statement

From the very beginning, we were in agreement: this film deserves an award. It has deeply moved all of us and leaves a lasting impression that we will not forget anytime soon. We unanimously believe: this film must be seen. With this award, we want to draw attention to a work that is as valuable as it is painful—and yet, despite all its heaviness, it offers hope. The director's decision to approach the family in their most intimate and vulnerable situation with such closeness and sensitivity, while remaining simple and direct and consciously avoiding effects, lends the film an unpretentious honesty. It is precisely this authentic tone that makes the work so powerful and profoundly human.

CHRONICITY

Jury statement

In just four minutes, a visually impressive chain reaction unfolds at breakneck speed from an apparent banality to nothing less than the First World War. With masterfully staged transitions, the film shows how everyday - and above all human - actions lead inexorably from one to the next. The director, who created the animations herself, succeeds in depicting an impressive fragility and unpredictability of life with her sketchy drawings. This work reminds us how fragile the world is and how involuntary the course of events often seems
